Covid -19 and the South East Local Nature Partnership's principles for our economic recovery

There is increasing recognition that as we look to regional, national and global economic recovery it is essential we do not revert to business as usual but ‘build back better’.  The Covid -19 crisis has highlighted how inextricably linked economic and societal success is with a healthy natural environment.  As central and local government, businesses and the third sector all look to the future improving our resilience is a key consideration.

The South East Local Nature Partnerships (SE LNPs) have drawn up principles for embedding a zero carbon, nature based approach in economic recovery and circulated this to CEO's, Chairs and Leaders in the South East.  These principles are captured in the following open letter

The SE LNPs group had been working with Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) and Members of Parliament (MPs) on many of the  areas described in the letter before the pandemic and we look forward to working on the economic recovery with LEPs, MPs, resilience forums and a wider range of groups, to ensure that a more integrated, nature based economy can be implemented.

If you are interested in taking part in this work, Kent Nature Partnership will be pleased to hear from you.
