Coastal and floodplain grazing marsh
2025 target
Restore 2000 ha
Current resource (Kent Habitat Survey 2012)
14,174 ha UK BAP priority habitat
Rationale
The most likely opportunities up to 2025 will be restoring existing grazing marsh. This target includes habitat creation at Higham Marsh, Harty Marshes, Lydden Valley, Seasalter Levels and the Environment Agency’s Flood and Coastal Risk Management programme. In addition to the restoration target for this habitat, the Strategy also aims to ensure that sensitive areas and the species they support are protected from recreational disturbance.
