Update from the KNP coordinator
It’s been a busy start to 2022, with the appointment of our new Chair Matthew Balfour, the completion of the State of Nature in Kent report and of course the launch of the new KNP website!
The Environment Act received Royal Ascent in November and KNP have been working on areas such as Local Nature Recovery Strategy and Biodiversity Net Gain for some time, but it will be the Nature Recovery Green paper due to be published soon that will contain detail on how the act will be implemented.
At the same time KNP is completing a response to the “Biodiversity Net Gain regulations and implementation consultation”, as we prepare to take forward our proposed 20% Biodiversity Net Gain for Kent and Medway.
We will make sure the Nature Recovery pages on this website bring you the latest developments on this legislation which represent a once in a lifetime opportunity for nature recovery in Kent and Medway.
